Words of Inspiration and Motivation

Marian Wright Edelman
  • "I'm doing what I think I was put on this earth to do. And I'm really grateful to have something that I'm passionate about and that I think is profoundly important."
"I don't care what my children choose to do professionally, just as long as within their choices they understand they've got to give something back."
Lyndon B. Johnson
"In a land of great wealth, families must not live in hopeless poverty. In a land rich in harvest, children just must not go hungry. In a land of healing miracles, neighbors must not suffer and die untended. In a great land of learning and scholars, young people must be taught to read and write."
"The Great Society rests on abundance and liberty for all. It demands an end to poverty and racial injustice, to which we are totally committed in our time. But that is just the beginning."

    My Personal Childhood Web

    My Roots

(Telora Thatch- Mother) My mother is a very outgoing person who is devoted to the mentally, spiritual, and physical growth of all of those around her. My mother has always encouraged me to do what is right in the eye of God and not man. She never allowed me to run with the crowds which I’m thankful for because most of my classmates and childhood friends are either dead, in prison, or have several children with little education. As a child I was able to try a variety of activities such as dance, basketball, girl scouts, choir, and many more. I’m grateful that because till these day I still love to dance.

(Thelma Wright- Grandmother) My grandmother has always told me that my job is to be a young lady and get my education. She has taken me along on many trips traveling to varies places like FL, TX, MI, CA, and many more. At a young age I was able to see many parts of the USA, I believe this is where my love from traveling comes from.

(Aunt Von) My Aunt Von is what we today call Ol School. If you are around her you are expected to say ma’am and sir. She is an advocate for education. Before I attended school she would care for me. I remember learning my alphabets, numbers, personal information like my address, phones number, etc., personal hygiene, and many more things that aided in my success. I can also remember when I first started school I did not know how to tie my shoe, one evening when we went over she made me sit at the table and practice tying my shoe. I couldn’t get up until I learned how to do so. I was upset at the time because I was missing my show but that was my motivation to learn so in less than 5 minutes I had shoe tying down packed!

    My Personal Blog

    Favorite Book
Ø  My favorite children’s book is none other than “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss. I love the book because children are always engaged in the story whenever I read it.  I also enjoy this particular story because it’s a story about being brave and not giving up! Sam-I-Am never stopped pushing the unnamed character to try green eggs and ham. I believe the unnamed character was afraid to try something new but once he tried it he found that he actually loved green eggs and ham. I use the story to encourage my students to be brave and try new things after all life is all about being brave and taking chances!
Story of a child that touched my heart
Ø  During my social welfare class we had to read a book entitled “A Child Called It” by Dave Pelzer, this has been by far the most touching story I’ve ever heard. Dave talks about his childhood and dealing with life’s challenges. During his childhood, Dave was brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. Dave’s is ultimately rescued on March 5, 1973 when school staff called the police. This part moved me because it was a Teacher that reported the case!! We never know just how big of an impact we can have on a child’s life! It is vital that we as educators and administrators to our part and do it with much joy in our hearts!

Ø  “It takes a village to raise a child”. The African proverb teaches everlasting truth. It does indeed take a village, to raise a child. Over the years I feel that who have lost sight of this rich proverb. What happen to the days when it was okay to correct a child when you see they doing, regardless if they’re yours a not? That single guardian needs your help, its extremely difficult bringing up children by yourself, so why not lead that helping hand? If we want that kind of support, the place to begin is with ourselves. We must decide to get back to a place of your child is my child and build up children of integrity and self worth, helping them where they fall short mentally, physically, and emotionally

    My intake
Ø  I feel that an educator is the most precious resource our country has; of all the jobs in this country, none of them would be possible without teachers. Educating children severely affects their lives and it also influences the lives of anyone who comes into contact with those children. Education provides an establishment for a child to base the rest of his or her life on. Without a sound education, it becomes impossible for an individual to provide for themselves and their families. Education is very important and is a lifelong process. Teachers should feel the fulfillment when the students have obtained the knowledge that they have taught them. Passion is the reason that I am going into the teaching field.
